CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2008 YOUNG VOICES CONTEST WINNERS!

The 2008 Voices of the Future Songwriting Contest is proud to present this year's winners.

The contest was created to encourage and facilitate growth for young aspiring songwriters, and was open to persons between the ages of 13 and 17. A recognition of talent rather than merely a competition, entrants were evaluated and rewarded for creativity, originality and artistry rather than novelty or commercial viability. Administered and judged by:  Songwriters Anonymous of South East Michigan

Sponsorship and prizes provided by: Springfed Arts and Lamb's Retreat for Songwriters, AnnArborAlive Internet Radio, NorEast'r Music and Arts Festival, and Elderly Instruments.

FIRST PLACE:
"Astounding" - by Brittany Ann
Brittany Ann is a seventeen-year-old folk singer/songwriter from Easton, PA. Entranced by her father's guitar as a little girl, she picked it up when she was nine years old and taught herself how to play. Now she is a junior vocal major at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts in Bethlehem, keeping very busy with practicing, writing, and gigging. She has made quite a buzz on the regional music scene lately, earning herself gigs in Philadelphia, NYC, and of course, her hometown's own Musikfest. Please listen and read more at www.myspace.com/brittanyannmusic

SECOND PLACE:
"Send Down A Miracle" - by Natalie Myziuk
Natalie is a 17 year-old Junior at Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She started singing publicly at the age of nine. Singing the star spangled banner at a high school hockey game led to becoming the primary anthem singer at all of the high school sporting events. She has participated in numerous talent shows and competitions in and around the Detroit area. She has been playing guitar for about a year and a half and has begun writing songs. Singing at coffee shops and local restaurants has inspired her to continue on the path to a music career. While music is the center of her life, she also enjoys running, drawing, shopping, and being around the people that she cares about the most. She hopes one day that her music will be enjoyed by many, because she truly loves performing and that is the very reason that she sings. She loves it; the feeling of being on stage is something indescribable.

VOICES OF THE FUTURE SONGWRITING CONTEST 2008

Dear Young Songwriters,

We would like to extend a warm invitation to persons between the ages of 13 and 17 to participate in the 2nd Annual Voices of the Future Songwriting Competition, created to encourage and facilitate growth for young aspiring songwriters. Evaluation of art is, by nature, subjective; therefore, please consider this recognition of talent rather than merely a competition. Entrants will be evaluated and rewarded for creativity, originality and artistry rather than novelty or commercial viability.

There are two ways to enter this year’s competition.

1. You may mail in your submission. Download the entry form here. Submit one CD recording of one original song, one legible lyric sheet and a completed application form signed by the songwriter or authorized representative. Additional entry forms may be photocopied or downloaded here.

2. You may enter via the web using the on line entry form (click here). Once the entry form is reviewed you will be receiving instructions via email explaining where to email your mp3 and lyrics. A high-speed connection is best for this. Rules and regulations are all the same.

NOTE: WE WILL BE CONSIDERING ONLY THE FIRST 200 ENTRIES RECEIVED. Notice will be posted on this website as soon as possible after we've reached 200 and the contest is closed.

Anyone willing to print and hand out brochures for us may down load the two sided tri-fold brochure here. THANKS!
